Sea Delight Invests in Aquaco- Florida Pompano aquaculture

Fort Pierce/February 2 – Aquaco, Sea Delight, and Eugenio Sanchez’ private investment company, Tamaran Investment, have partnered to expand production of Florida Pompano for the US market.

Aquaco was founded by Joe Cardenas in an effort to prove the commercial viability of raising a quality marine fish for the wholesale and retail markets.  The primary focus back then, and even more relevant today, was finding the balance in doing so in a sustainable manner while demonstrating that land-based marine aquaculture can be a profitable operation.

“Our team worked extremely hard to demonstrate this species was ready for a greater audience.  The knowledge and efficiencies gained in the past three+ years gave confidence to the fact we were ready to expand and meet the supply problem that has historically hindered the wild Florida Pompano market”.

The company has been privately funded since inception and recently launched a Series A round that could triple current production.  Adding the strength and know-how of Industry partners was a goal that Cardenas set out with last quarter and those discussions have led to a tremendous opportunity for both Aquaco and Sea-Delight.

“Like Aquaco, Sea Delight is a Florida-based company and as such, we are looking forward to supporting the growth of their aquaculture operation as well as sharing over 30 years of comercial experience to help drive market access for such a fantastic, high-quality product,” said Eugenio Sanchez.

“We could not have been more fortunate to have found a partner with similar ideals.  Both principles have a sense of reserved optimism for the industry and understand that both patience and perseverance are needed to be successful,” said  Joe Cardenas.

Sea-Delight’s partnership along with a successful capital campaign with Harvest Returns meant that construction on new systems can begin and Aquaco looks to have product back on the market in 1st quarter next year.
